Winterfeeling
at its best!
This works while you are out skiing, but without skis too of course! From sporty winter activities in Saalbach away from the ski pistes to delicious culinary treats on the sun terraces at the mountain inns, in Saalbach Hinterglemm there is everything for non-skiers to enjoy a successful holiday too. Romantics love snow-covered winter hiking trails or cosy horse-drawn sleigh rides, while adventurers are drawn to tandem paragliding on the Westgipfel in Hinterglemm.
Speedy snowtubing, tobogganing or a few laps of the ice rink provide fun for all ages in Saalbach Hinterglemm. Ski tours send your heart rate rocketing, so does cross-country skiing in the tranquillity of the natural surroundings.
Winter hiking
Connected to nature and inspiring
140km of winter hiking paths provide one of the loveliest options to experience the picturesque winter landscape. After a convenient ascent by cable car, dreamy views across the valley await.
The destination – one of 60 cosy Alpine inns which have sun terraces. Indeed, even without cable assistance you get to explore the region, while enjoying the tranquillity and the serenity of a refreshment stop. Twice a day the tourist association offers free guided hikes.
Snow-shoe hikes
Traditional and genuine
Snow-shoe hikes at the head of the valley open up views to the impressive mountains far away from the ski pistes, providing a welcome change of scene to the chill of winter in the city. Romantics escape the town to enjoy the peace and tranquillity on a horse-drawn carriage ride under the (starry) skies.
Cross-country skiing
Classic and invigorating
Anyone looking for sporty alternatives to the selection of pistes available, will find a small, yet perfect, selection of cross-country trails in Saalbach Hinterglemm. The ‘Talschluss Höhenloipe' trail, which proceeds, far removed from all the hustle and bustle, along the Saalach up to the Lindlingalm, is particularly charming in terms of the scenery it offers.
All the trails can be used free of charge. After heavy snowfall, the trails may only be tracked in the afternoon. The priority is on clearing the roads and footpaths.
Fun and fast-paced
To your toboggans, get set, go…! A fun race among friends or a leisurely descent with the kids – tobogganing in Saalbach Hinterglemm really is fun, or ‘Kufengaudi’ as we say here! One special adventure for all tobogganers is a night-time tobogganing session on the floodlit toboggan runs.
On the 3.2 km toboggan route on the Reiterkogel in Hinterglemm, the Reiterkogelbahn provides a relaxing ascent up to the start – with tobogganing available on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday, even extending into night-time tobogganing from 16:15 to 21:30.
Ski touring
Fascinating and liberating
Ski touring has long been a trend, which is why it should not be missing from your winter holiday in the ‘Home of Lässig’. No wonder, because the cable cars rarely takes you into the backcountry and thus to the most popular freeride areas.
However, if you prefer ski touring in the ski areas on the edge of the piste, there are plenty of options here too.
